| The leaves are changing and they started to fall and the temperature is slowly dropping; Autumn has officially started in Chicago...so I'd like to look back to what a great summer it was! In Early June I was appointed to be the head recruiter for ASF Chicago dancers for the WOWOWEE CHICAGO last July. Challenging but a fun task!
I didnt just recruit dancers, I made some GREAT friends!

I went off to Washington DC for a weekend to see my friend Rhona b4 her wedding in the Philippines
Then I got to see my comedienne friend on the Chicago stop of her tour! We see each other EVERY YEAR for the past few yrs now!
(i know bad picture....i had candy in my mouth! haha!) Then I emceed my cousin MJ's cotillion
 in early July...WOWOWEE CHICAGO!!!

I became friends with the dancers I recruited for wowowee and we hung out quit a bit after the show! movies, dinners, bowling, beach volleyball and karaoke!

End of July I visited San Francisco and also got to meet and became friends with Anne during the PDA tour...
This past summer I also got to see friends who were away for school during the school yr. Always good times!

Upon my return to Chicago, I had my first AMERICAN concert that summer by watching IDOLS on tour in Moline IL

Also in August: Pinoy Dream show in Chicago! good to see them again!

(pix taken during the Pinay wine launch from Napa Valley) ONE FINE AUGUST AFTERNOON, Me and my friends took the Chicago Architectural cruise sailing on the chicago river!

Another show I worked on: BEAUTY N DA BEST Chicago Concert
And meeting a PHLIPPINE COMEDY LEGEND
then early this month, when people started goin off to school...i went off to vegas...cuz summer was not quite done! it's for a show...and hangin out with friends from Manila! =)

COMBINED WITH THE ONES FROM CHICAGO and the new found ones from Vegas, LA and SF!!!! =)

I did a quick stop in So. Cal and again chilled at my aunt's awesome backyard! =)

On Sept 12th, upon my return to Chicago, I met up with my friend KL who was in town touring with Sarah Geronimo
HIS REQUEST (he called me while I was still in Vegas) was to make sure we go out when he gets in! (KL singing over and over: "BUY YOU A DRINK...") HAHA
the show was great as well....of course the $300 comped seats were off the hook! =)
THE LAST FULL DAY OF SUMMER 07, I WENT OUT (again) FOR MY FRIEND KATRINA'S BDAY as well as my girls' Crizza and Melis' back to school bash..what a way to end a fun season!

And that was my summer in a nutshell....plus countless hanging out with new friends, watching about 10 movies in the theaters, goin to Philippine volleyball league every mondays and numerous bonding times over late nite coffee!
I dont look forward to winter and the cold weather...but I sure do look forward for Spring 08! | | |
| So 2 weeks ago i was in San Francisco then LA then came back to Chicago overnite then headed to Detroit then back to Chicago for a concert.
here were some captured moments....(it wasnt a vacation so much more as a "business trip" Bboy style)
I came to SF to visit my tour mgr from last April's tour with Sam Milby n Piolo P. She booked another show with Pinoy Dream Academy (google it) winners with Anne Curtis, Luis Manzano and Makisig Morales.
I met Anne first and we clicked rite away; she loves the OC and even the same type of music and we have one common friend...SAM
We saw each other every nite for all the promos.
I also met Ronnie, JaY R, ArJay and Yeng of Pinoy Dream

 (pix from the cast party)
here's some from the show

Backstage and outside.. this is Luis Manzano aka Lucky: Showbiz Royalty...son of highly acclaimed actress and Governor Vilma Santos and Award winning actor/TV host and former politician Edu Manzano

and of course this boy wonder: Little big superstar runner-up and "super inggo!" Makisig Morales

after SF off to LA to buy merchandze and pretty much just chilled in my aunts backyard...swimming and chillen here everyday for 3 days...

I arrived in Chicago....then left to detroit for the weekend. Saw my cuzins...sold some stuff almost great til I got pulled over for speeding.
A few days later the Pinoy Dream Academy cast arrives in Chicago with guests Carlo aquino and Angelica panganiban. It was good to see PDA again and meet Angel n Carlo thursday promo in roselle, IL, Friday wine tasting in Orland Park IL and Saturday show at Harris Theater, Millenium Park in Downtown Chicago
Thursday dinner promo at manila fiesta
(catching up....cuz I didnt show up til the 3rd day they were in town...)
 ---I love paparazzi pix...hahah!-----

(Ronnie sporting BBOY merchandize...no he didnt buy....a customer made him wear it and took a pic)!
JayR acting all thug-ish! He's definitely the goofiest in the group...along with Carlo
Friday Wine Tasting and launch of Pinay Wine from Napa Valley and dinner promo in Orland Park
With JayR, My friend Shane, former young star turned rock star Carlo Aquino, and Ronnie Liang
With PDA Grand Champ Yeng and former young star turned Maxim model and mature Actress Angelica Panganiban
With My good friends Ria and Shalom who were invited to the wine tasting but they didnt know there were Pinoy celebs there too!
Saturday: I was Late for the show! oh well...i saw it already in SF! haha!

 check out the jeans!

 Playing in the dressing room...
dinner in Oakbrook after the concert...

(Shane's dream coming true....meeting her ultimate crush of 12 yrs!)

The next day, the cast flew back to Manila after their nearly month long US tour. JayR asked me to show up at the airport to send them off but they were leaving too early. I already received an email from Ronnie and he was off to the US embassy again for their Guam show. A couple of the people from the group added me on friendster already....one in multiply This is what I love about all this....I keep making new friends who arent from the US but I get to see every yr! =)

| Upon my return from Cali in May, I was in limbo for 2 weeks...not knowing what my next project was. Then on May 26th, as I left my friend's wedding, I received a call offering me to be part of wowowee Chicago. On June 1st, Glenn and Kuya Bobby from Vision Quest Productions called for a meeting..an exclusive one...a meeting of only 5 people...the key players for wowowee Chicago. It was me and 4 other guys spear heading this project. The first thing they asked me to do, because of my network, was to look for dancers! At first I thought, aight, tomorrow is Hype in Depaul...this should be easy. I had ppl sign up...i emailed them...but as days went by, I wasn't getting any replies! I got scared! What if I don't find dancers?? I hit up face book, myspace, friendster and even xanga more and more....still not that many showed interest.
On june 6 (one month b4 the show) Tita Rita Shaver, head coordinator hired by TFC, arrived in chicago. Again, she mentioned about dancers. Crap! l had less than 20!
What they failed to mention to me was they will have Willie and the other hosts announce my name and number on every wowowee episode! So the monday of the week they did that...my fone was going crazy! I had to call Tmobile to adjust my minutes from 600 to 1500. So many inquiries! I had phone calls from New York, Tennessee, and even Canada coming to the show. Then I randomly got this weird number show up on my screen. He introduced himself as my kuya Alex. I couldnt remember at first...but he was calling from SAUDI ARABIA. He's my mom's old friend who hasnt seen us for over 20 yrs! BECAUSE OF TFC, HE WAS ABLE TO ONCE AGAIN GET A HOLD OF MY MOM....BECAUSE HE SAW MY NUMBER ON WOWOWEE! Global exposure...it's unreal!
A few days before the auditions I was feeling aight...because I had enough signed up....then when I called most of the girls, some of them sed they cant make it! I got scared again! I thought I wont have 40 girls!
I know Samantha is coming with some FIA guys but a couple of the girls couldnt do it last minute.

The guys were harder to find...but turned out to be easier to deal with. We needed JUST 10 but I guess all 17 impressed Anna, the choreographer, that she kept all!

I was introduced to Aaron by the producer of another concert 3 weeks b4 wowowee. I saw Partick there too. I also got reunited there with Stella and met Shane! Oh and it was also at that concert where I met Ron Vergara, my sponsor who gave $25,000 to Wowowee! Holla!
My girl Steph wouldn't audition until I mentioned it to a celebrity buddy who asked her for me to do it! hahah! Then I asked her if she knew any guys...She then brought in Mike...who has never seen wowowee n didnt know anything about the show!
I posted another bulletin on myspace and finally Kristine Reyes responded but she specifically said, can I not do the pera o bayong part? LOL

Tita Mila who was part of the food committee suggested 2 of her nieces but couldn't do it so she brought in another niece...Kristen Butterfield...16 yrs old...lotsa potential!
One random nite as well, less than a week b4 the auditions I went to Bw3s and ran into my girl Arian. She wrote down her friend's name...Michelle Ilagan....and what do u know, Michelle turned out to be my li'l cousin's ex gf in 7th grade! And now, she an ASF dancer!
Robin approached me on facebook too and brought her bro to the auditions! Go niu! haha! I went bowling with Jessie 2 weeks prior and I asked him to join and he said no at first then IMed me later for more questions.

As i walked in to the audition room at Hyatt lodge, i didnt know what to expect....and when i entered I thought to myself...OMG! LOL. That was a lot of ppl! My boy Carlo whispered...these guys look hardcore! haha.
I liked how Kristine brought our friend Sigrid...who was coming back from Canada so she couldnt do the auditions but that Monday, there were 2 or 3 girls missing so she was automatically in! Good job!

Fast fwd to Tuesday last week. I get to Midway to find out that no one from Chicago aside from our main sponsor and the drivers were picking up the Manila cast. I met Willie, Mariel n Roxanne and the dancers and thought to myself...Mariel doesnt look like mariel....she's prettier WITH OUT make up! and Willie is short! hahah! Wednesday...the most unusual July 4th I've ever had! I stopped by rehearsal then off to downtown for pre cast party hosted by my sponsor. That's where I met Bea Alonso and escorted dancer Milagring cuz the crowd was swarming her. Then we closed down the upper level of phoenix restaurant in Chinatown for dinner.

Day of the show, I was losing my temper to last minute callers looking for good seats! C'mon now! Everything went by fast and next thing i know...it's show proper.

 (it's not a party without OCHO OCHO...LOL)

I tried to recruit my family friend Gracie as a dancer but she had summer school....but she managed to still be on stage as she got picked as one of the bigat-10s! lol
My Tita Ellen from Ohio last saw me when I was very little. She bought tickets from me for this show and she was picked as a pera o bayong contestant!
Got a text from Sam Milby from the Philippines asking how the show was going....his parents drove from Ohio. After the show, i finally had to turn in my sales and realized...that I was really glad about wowowee...wink wink!
Bea Alonso had to leave 3:30 AM the day after the show so she wasnt able to go to the post cast party. Me, Steph, mike and my boys Rex and Carlo stayed til about 2:30 then called it a night! We were so tired!

I found it amazing how my boy Rex ended up in the same plane as the whole manila cast of wowowee on their way to Chicago! lol! He actually met the celebs before me!
The next day...after lunch with Steph n Mike, late lunch with TFC Balitang America Big boss Ging Reyes and Chicago correspondent Don Tagala, at Tavern on Rush. That nite, power went off at the hotel for over 30 minutes with one of the Manila crew getting stucked in the elevator!
After meeting up Milke at the hotel, we drove to Chinatown with Steph at about 2:30 AM and when we got back, Luningning was taking her luggage out and getting ready for the airport. Mariel shopped for 10 hours only with a driver...cuz no one wanted to go with her! lol!
Sunday nite was recap dinner at Fogo De Chao...one last time with the Chicago crew. It was fun...especially cuz the $1500 bill was charged to TFC.
And that's my story. I'm glad to meet new friends...from tfc head quarters, from Manila, and Chicago locals. Im happy to have discovered new talents now aka ASF Chicago.
Im truly thankful for Wowowee...I've done quite a number of live shows but the caliber of this one is exceptional! C'mon now..the Sticker alone on Stage cost $10,000!!!! One time use!
 With Director John Dy
With WOWOWEE/ASF dancers from Manila, Monette, Luningning, Milagring and Aiko
And of course with Mr. Wowowee himself, Willie Revillame
So what am I doin now? Chillen! And leaving for California on the 24th for another show!
BUT BEFORE I GO...I JUST WANNA GIVE BACK ALL THE GLORY TO MY LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST...WHO ALWAYS PROVIDES N PROTECTS AND ALWAYS GIVES ME THE DESIRES OF MY HEART....AND THEN SOME! THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING GRACE AND MERCY AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! I AM ONCE AGAIN IN AWE OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE SO FAR IN MY LIFE AND CANNOT WAIT FOR WHAT YOU HAVE IN STORE FOR ME!
God bless us all! | | |
